Threadneedle is planning to move into commodities and has appointed David Donora as executive director to set up its commodities business. The firm is expecting to launch its first commodities hedge fund in the autumn and Mr Donora will develop and manage the fund.

Jan Straatman, currently chief executive officer and chief investment officer of Pearl-Axial Investments, is set to become CIO of ING Investment Management Europe.
