AMF delays new CEO arrival amid government pressure
Published: 16 June, 2008
Swedish pension company AMF Pension’s newly appointed chief executive officer, Ingrid Bonde, will not take on the job until the end of November. Ms Bonde, previously director-general at Finansinspektionen (the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority), has been banned by the government from taking on the position earlier because of a potential conflict of interest. The government has also forced Ms Bonde to leave her job at the supervisory authority immediately, since she is joining a player in the market. She will replace Christer Elmehagen, who in December last year announced his intention to retire after 10 years at the post. “In Ingrid Bonde we have found the person who can develop the firm and look after our savers. We are very pleased to have been able to recruit her to the very important job as CEO,” said Göran Tunhammar, chairman of AMF Pension, which has SKr276bn (€29.5bn) in assets under management.
